uJump

For Dubstech’s Protothon 2024 event, we were given 48 hours to design an app the best fits a set of prompts provided. Our team of five decided to design an app where users can have time travel in the palm of their hands. Assigned the role of Designer on our team, I was responsible for turning our research findings into a lucrative design that seemed not just possible, but realistic as well.

Challenge

We asked ourselves how might we personalize time travel for users and make interacting with people and elements as they exist to create new memories - all while creating a time travel booking experience for users to tie travel fast, safe, and easy.

Results

Design

A personalized time travel feature that caters to revisiting time specific memories.

By adding customization, Emily can travel to her parent’s wedding day & create a new memory shared with her mom. Emily can also relive specific memorable events such as the Michael Jackson half-time performance she enjoyed. Dave can also access the memory & share in the moment with his family.

Integrate

A memory scan feature to unlock specific memories that assist users during time travel.

Integrating memory scan helps users pare down to specific times providing more precision on their jumps. Emily can simply receive a memory scan with our biometric & memory scanning feature to jump to her parents wedding.

Pioneer

The first-ever time travel booking experience that allows user to make fast, secure & easy time jumps.

Integrated search filter that allows for time jumps in the past, future & destinations within our current universe. Intuitive feature to record & save past travels, pre-purchase & create new jumps - made easy right at your fingertips. Dual purpose biometric scan for users to calibrate their health stats before making a time jump, creating a safer time jump experience.

Conclusion

The uJump app is not a concept made in the real world yet. However, there are changes and considerations I would make to the UI given more time. The next steps I'd take include allowing more space between items on the screen and larger text fields for accessibility.
